Biography

이민하는 서울에서 태어나 서울대학교 미술대학 동양화과에서 학부와 석사과정을 졸업했다. 2007년 일본정부 국비유학생으로 도쿄예술대학 대학원 미술연구과로 유학을 갔고, 2013년에 Inter Media Art전공으로 박사학위를 취득했다. 예술의 사회적 의의에 대해 생각하면서 ‘성聖과 속俗’을 키워드로 작품을 제작하고 있다. 회화, 사진, 영상, 설치 등 다양한 미디어를 다루는 그는 인간에게 보편적으로 내재하고 있는 ‘인간다움’에 대한 탐구를 신구 미디어의 결합으로 표현하는 것이 특징이다.

주요 전시 경력으로는 2014년 구로문화재단 기획초대의 4번째 개인전 ‘Anaphora’가 있으며, 2017년에는 가리봉벌집을 주제로 ‘낮고 높고 좁은 방’ 전시를 기획했다. 2010년 아이치 트리엔날레, 2013년 고베 비엔날레에 입상했으며, 작품활동과 전시기획 외에도 주민참여형 공공미술 프로젝트를 기획하는 예술감독으로도 활동하고 있다. 대표적인 프로젝트로 2015년 서울 항동철길에서 진행한 Art Rail 조성 프로젝트와 2016년 시흥시 월곶예술공판장_Art Dock의 ‘함께 디자인’ 프로그램이 있다.

Minha LEE was born in Seoul, South Korea, and graduated from Seoul National University with a BFA and an MFA in Oriental Painting. She moved to Japan in 2007 to continue her study with Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship at Tokyo University of the Arts (Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music), and received the doctoral degree (DFA) in Inter-media Art. She seeks to address the social role of visual art in consideration of “The sublime”, “The sacred and the profane” and “The Prayers” as her keywords. As she can handle various media types such as paintings, photos, videos and installation arts. Expressing her reflections on ‘innate human heartedness’ through cohesive use of old and new media deeply characterizes her work.

As for major careers, LEE held her 4th solo exhibition in 2014 at Guro Arts Valley Gallery, in Seoul under the title of Anaphora, and she curated exhibition in 2017 at Gallery Guruji, in Seoul under the title of CELL-Low, High and Narrow Room. Her project selected for the ‘Aichi Triennale 2010’ in Japan, and she also has a winning work, accepted for Shitsurai International Art Competition from ‘Kobe Biennale 2013’ in Japan. Aside from art works and exhibitions, She also serves as an art director who plans to participate in the Community based Art Project. As for major art projects, she planed ‘Art Rail Cunstruction Project’ in 2015 at Hangdong railroad, in Seoul and ‘Hamke Design’ of Wolgot Art Dock 2016 at SiHeung city in South Korea.
